About Us

The North Qld Babies & Kids Market was developed due to an overwhelming response to one mum organising a small market to sell pre-loved babies and kids goods.  The market has grown from 8 stall holders to over 80 displays of  pre-loved, handmade, new or promotional stands. The Market is not only for parents to buy and sell good quality pre-loved babies and kids goods but also provides an avenue to connect mums with mums; and local home based businesses and services.

MACKAY MARKET – The Mackay Market is held every three months on a Saturday in a quality indoor venue.  Until recently the market had been held the Senior Citizens Centre, Macalister Street, Mackay Qld. However the market has outgrown the space and launched their first market for 2012 at a new venue, Powerhouse Centre”, Mackay Christian College Junior Campus, Evans Avenue North (off Glenpark St), Nth Mackay.

TOWNSVILLE MARKET- The Townsville Markets have previously been held every 3 months however the needs of our Townsville shoppers have increased so we are increasing the number of markets in Townsville in 2013.  We will be holding 5 markets in 2013… The first is March 2nd at Ignatius Park College. The markets Home Venue will then be permanently moved to Townsville RSL Stadium. The first market at Townsville RSL Stadium will be held on the 15th of June.

CAIRNS MARKET- We are excited to announce that we are expanding our markets… We are in the final stages of confirming a date & venue for our first Cairns market which will be held in July 2013.

MORANBAH MARKET- We are also bringing the Markets to Moranbah (a small mining town aprrox. 2 hours west of Mackay) Our first market for Moranbah should be in April 2013.

The venues we use have been selected for the markets as everything is completely indoors and under cover.  The venues also have pram friendly access.  You will find ample parking around the venues and a set down spot right at the door for if it happens to rain.  We are an all weather Market… Rain, Hail or Shine we are open & you can enjoy shopping in Air-Conditioned comfort.

The Market is now under New Management.  Christine Wilson the founder of the market has handed over the reins after 4 years to the new owner, Amanda Webber.  Amanda is Mackay Local who lived in Sydney for 10 years before returning to Mackay to be closer to family in 2007. Amanda & her husband Mark own Eagle Boys at Rural View & have owned & operated the business since 2008.

Mark & Amanda Webber have 3 children, Amelia (4) & Twins Elena & Harrison (2).  Amanda has had a great deal of business & management experience through out her career.  Amanda was a bank manager for ANZ for 5 years.  She was also responsible for the Save Mackay IVF Clinic Facebook & media Campaign as well as the Baby Reef Leukemia Fundraising.

“My goal is to grow the markets to enable work at home parents a safe & secure way to sell their products & services to the North Queensland Community from Cairns to Mackay & west to Moranbah.”

If you’re a mum wanting some extra cash for something special or need to buy your growing kids some clothes and you just can’t make it happen.  The North Qld Babies & Kids Market is worth a look! We can’t promise we will have everything you need, however with 60+ displays providing goods only relating to babies, children, mums, mums-to-be and families we are certain you’ll find something.

In 2011 the market changed it’s name from Mackay Babies & Kids Markets to North Qld Babies & Kids Markets to cater for the growth of markets in North Qld.

I am also very proud to have introduced “Market Weeks at Shopping Centres” to showcase parents working from home and the amazing hidden products in Queensland.  The first “Market Week” was held in October 2010 at Mt Pleasant Shopping Centre in Mackay.  The response from stallholders and the public of Mackay was fantastic and we will be running more Market Weeks in 2013 at Canelands Central and MtPleasant.  We also organise the same avenue for our Townsville Business Stallholders.
